Inventor of the Sweet Dreamers product range, Lynda, is a mum to six lovable and lively children (although now grown up and three of them work for the family business!). Like most parents, it was sometimes a struggle to put her newborn to sleep. Discovering that there was nothing suitable on the market, she was determined to invent a product range to help soothe restless babies and promote the formation of a healthy sleep pattern.
After researching and canvassing valuable input from sleep experts, university departments and medical professionals, she contacted GBE to help bring these products to life.
Sweet Dreamers approached GBE in 2008 to design and develop a working model of a sound player/electronic musical box alongside the associated firmware, ensuring it is suitable for manufacture. This device would be placed inside a plushie to form Ewan the Dream Sheep which GBE helped to design.
GBE was also tasked with optimising, compressing, and filtering the sound files to incorporate the code efficiently into the product, whilst keeping good sound quality.
Throughout the design process, GBE produced several prototypes and sound samples. These were sent to Sweet Dreamers for acceptance and feedback. From there, GBE was able to refine and deliver an excellent product which met the design specification and satisfied manufacture requirements.
With many years’ experience within the electronics toy industry, GBE worked collaboratively with Sweet Dreamers to understand their expertise and research in healthy sleep patterns. This close partnership continues to this day, with GBE providing electronic and mechanical design in addition to manufacturing support for their wonderful range of sleep-aid products.
