Worthing College Collaboration
GBE takes pride in wanting to drive and inspire a future generation of engineers. That’s why last year we teamed up with Worthing College to ensure students have access to a wealth of future opportunities. From this, GBE sponsored Worthing College’s electronics lab by providing essential equipment, such as, wire cutters, cabling & PIC microcontroller chips. As well as offering an inside route to students for summer internships, work experience and apprenticeship opportunities. We are now currently working with a small group of enthusiastic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) students to design a score board for their rugby pitch. The GBE group is happily supporting Worthing College by funding and supplying expertise to help lead the students through the design. There will be a cross collaboration through all the GBE group; GBE will help guide the electronics and mechanical design, GBP helping with the input power supply, GBL helping with the software and firmware to control the scoreboard and Wildtrax who will be producing and manufacturing the final design. The key reason behind this collaboration is to expose students to industry standard practices as well as working alongside electronic and mechanical engineers. We are proud to be teamed up with our local college, Worthing College, and look forward to seeing what these enthusiastic students create.

How GB Electronics Began
Where do you think GBE started? Believe it or not, GBE was formed in March 1988 in a spare room in Storrington. Over the years GBE has evolved into an award-winning company with 50+ highly skilled, innovated and dedicated employees. Let’s talk about the journey of getting to where we are now. The founder, Geoff Bullen, used his exceptional component knowledge to source hard-to-find electronic components. After building up his client base, this developed into small-scale PCB and product assembly. The initial focus being dispatch systems for the taxi industry and specialised power supplies for scientific instrumentation. After years of producing products, we decided to take it a step further: opening the door into design; creating a seamless design to product manufacturing service for our growing number of customers. We innovated a clever device specifically within the use of taxi’s, bringing the taxi metre, communication, GPS system and panic button into one. Since then, we have built extensive knowledge in a variety of sectors starting within in-vehicle telematics and branching out into healthcare, medical, life science, power and industrial electronics. Our sales department has grown rapidly and now has current availability and stock list of over 75,000-line items. As well as our brilliant design team offering a complete design process, from initial idea to manufacture. With the addition of a Software as a Service (SaaS) company in 2020. Mark and Tom, sons of the founder Geoff, and Kim and Matthew (very good family friends) now between them run the impressive design-led electronic product manufacturing company we all call GBE. GBE has always been a family run business, creating a personal element to the service we provide as well as creating a positive and valued environment where our staff perform at their best.
