I am Matt, the Industrial Design Engineer at GBE and the end of this month will mark my one-year anniversary working with the company. This year has gone so quickly and has provided many unique challenges in the face of COVID-19. Despite this, I have enjoyed my time at GBE and feel honoured to be working alongside so many friendly and knowledgeable people. Working for GBE has provided many great opportunities to design and develop products from start to finish, encompassing the whole design process. From early sketches and 3D printed prototypes, all the way up to production. Some of the most notable projects this year have been collaborating with Vidiia and three UK leading Universities to produce a rapid LAMP based COVID-19 test, known as the VH6. Other significant projects include working with Odore; a brilliant company in the retail space, which provides sampling devices, customisable to the client’s needs. I have learnt a lot working for GBE in the first year and I am grateful for all the skills I have developed. I am excited to see what the next year brings.
